Zarte Siempre One thing that I forgot to put in the main text - I have NOT yet picked a mole. If you wish to be considered, send me a private message, either in game, on facebook, or via apto-mail. Anyone who does NOT express an interest in playing the role of the Mole by those means, or who states that they would like it HERE will not be accepted.
Matt Hamer Ooh, this would be interesting to spectate. For those of us not in the tournament, would there be a way to follow what's going on, or to see the questionnaires from the participants? (Either during, or after, the tournament has run its course.)
Rachael Moran I was about to pay my subscription, but I've already paid with blood. 7 unplayed tourney games my arse.
Zarte Siempre I should state here, ignore the format being "old 15" - I just don't have an option to say "various"
Chris Marshall The Mole was great. I even wrote to channel 5 to ask them why they didn't recommission it so i'd recommend taking part. What if I want to book a holiday before the end of the year?
Zarte Siempre Chris - it won't run til the end of the year, I just don't have an exact end date. I'd expect it to be roughly til the end of August. If you know you'd be away for a week in July, say - I'd make allowances without you being specific.
Zarte Siempre There are JUST 2 spots left!

Zarte Siempre I take that back, Mark Deeks has now withdrawn, so there are THREE spots left.
Zarte Siempre Sign-ups are now CLOSED! Do not apply as your entry won't be counted but you may still be charged.
Thomas Carey Your own cross-out-able follow chart thingy (for Matt etc.) http://i1271.photobucket.com/albums/jj635/Apterite14847/ApterousMole_zpsd8b1415b.png
Matt Hamer Tom, that image won't load for me, it says it's been moved/deleted. Deliberate?
Thomas Carey Yes. |
Notes from the organizer: First of all – please read this before signing-up – there are several key facts that you need to know.
Some of you may remember a TV show from a few years ago called The Mole – it was about a team of people competing to win a prize, whilst someone within the team attempts to sabotage their efforts the whole time without being discovered. Now it is coming to apterous. It Is open to everyone – the player who is the best at apterous is unlikely to win – it's all about being the best sleuth you can be in an apterous setting.
The first thing I should probably say is that to make this work, you are actually playing for a prize. Apterous' esteemed leader himself, has agreed that there is up to a year's free subscription available for the winner.
Each task/challenge within this tournament will be played for a number of days worth of subscription, adding up to a maximum of a year.
There will be 2 tasks a week for the duration of the series – these will be on a Tuesday and a Saturday. Any entrants MUST make 1 of the 2 each week, they don't need to declare which in advance, and they may also play both. Any player missing both tasks in a week without very good reason will be removed immediately from the process. If you can tell me of weeks where you will be unavailable for both before this begins, then that will be allowable. There will also be certain times where it will be impossible to do one (i.e. Co-hud weekend, I'm aware many of you would not be able to do a task).
The tasks will be varied, and often surreal – I have taken care to make sure that for 99% of the tasks, no-one is risking any rating or prorank points in the name of success.
The overall game objective is to hunt out the mole. The saboteur. After every 2-3 tasks, contestants will be given a 10 question questionnaire based on the last 2 tasks – The person/people with the lowest score will be eliminated.
An important part of the game is to work out your own tactics – do you attempt to sabotage games yourself to look like the mole? Do you try and work out who you can trust in order to find things you may have missed?
This is NOT a classic tournament, but if you all play it in the right spirit, it could be a LOT of fun.
Please feel free to ask any questions you like – I understand it may seem strange. Watching an old episode may also help you to understand a little better.
