th October. So, we're back! With another whole new server. This is getting to be an expensive habit. Let's hope this one lasts a bit longer. Things will probably be a bit rocky for the next few days but I decided that the priority was getting the game back online ASAP and then smoothing over the issues. Enjoy!
th October. The legacy front page has become too much work to maintain and is officially dead. To the tiny fraction of you new to the regular front page: welcome!
th October. Tomorrow will be our first direct democracy Duel -- vote today to determine what it will be!
th October. Our first directly democratic Duel was a great success, thanks to everyone who voted. You can now view yesterday's votes and, of course, vote for tomorrow's Duel as well.
th October. In all-letters games (e.g. Letters Attacks), tiebreakers are now also Letters rounds. Likewise Numbers.
th October.Mocktorun added as a high-score format, available under Challenge in a custom format > Standard > Mocktorun. Enjoy!
th October. A new Vox Ludio is available now. Find out more about Richard Brittain than you ever dreamed!
th October. A new variant appears! Enjoy Instant, the fastest variant in the West. And elsewhere, probably. You'll find it under the new "Harder Variants" menu, too.
th October. Tournament organizers can now receive an email or apterous notification whenever a match is completed in their tournament. Set which sort of notification you want on the page for that tourney.
th October. You can now mark ticket replies as "nice!" if you think they are, well, nice. This is less formal than the ticket voting system and can be used to mark good ideas, amusing responses, or particularly good spelling. It will also become less ugly at some point. Note that nicing is not anonymous.
th October. You can now opt out from receiving notifications on individual discussions. Note that posting will automatically opt you in, but you can still opt out again if you want. You can also opt in to a discussion without posting.
th October. The Classic Game update is on upon us! This is the culmination of years (and in one case decades) of work by a lot of people, most notable Mike Brown and James Robinson, so major thanks to them and to all the others who've helped. There are over 3500 new games spanning Countdown history back to 1982, including lots of interesting miscellany like Christmas Specials, Masters, and Celebrity Countdown. There are also a few new Editor's Picks, which I'll be adding to in the coming weeks. Enjoy!
th October.Vote cruise! Takes you to a random ticket you haven't voted on before. Vote on that one (Thumbs Up, Thumbs Down, or No Vote) and be taken straight to another! A good way to see lots of proposals for apterous' future.
Only the month's 10 most popular formats are shown.
