• 3rd August. Jon Wells joined.
• 6th August. Dan Johnson joined.
• 7th August. They said it couldn't be done. The Duel Haul of Legends, which has been broken since October 2008, is back and better than ever!
• 7th August. Alasdair Redmond joined.
• 8th August. All pages are now XHTML 1.1 Strict compliant. Gold Bugs will be awarded for anyone who can coerce the server into producing a non-compliant page. The only exemption is the applet page itself, since there appears to be no way to validate that. Also this has been a mammoth hassle and I'm quite glad it's over.
• 9th August. As apterous soars gloriously into its third year, perhaps you're feeling a little nostalgic for the early days, or perhaps you're new and wondering what it was like back in the day. Well, now you can find out with the new apterous history series! I'll be releasing a new month's history every few days, starting with August 2008 (you can scroll backwards a bit, but not much happened in the first two months). You can see the important news and top scores, notable users who joined, and a bunch of other fun things. It's cool. Enjoy!
• 10th August. It seems like only a few weeks ago that I was congratulating Joe Denniss on having apterous' longest standing record. Perhaps because it was only a few weeks ago. Anyway, Joe's record was beaten soon after reaching the top spot, and competitors have been making ground. Now we have a new leader atop maybe the most prestigious leader board of all. So congratulations to Steve Briers, whose Flat 15 score of 117 has now stood for 496 days and is officially the longest standing record... ever! Let's see how long this one lasts.
• 11th August. As of this week, everyone who votes on Game of the Week will receive a shiny new ostracon. Ain't no other way to get 'em.
• 13th August. The ultimate leader board: all-format high scores!
• 13th August. James Bradley joined.
• 15th August. Word Stats! Most common maximums, broken down for every language and variant. This replaces the broken and limited Statland pages. Anyone for Hebrew Aegilops?
• 17th August. Maria Haughey and Matt Thorpe joined.
• 19th August. Hywel Morgan joined.
• 22nd August. A little treat for all you pencil-hunters.
