Chris Butler I realise it's started now, but has sign-up closed yet? Would be good to get it up to 47 wouldn't it?
Matthew Tassier Sign up remains open until Sunday 15th, the halfway point in the time allowed for the first round. The more the merrier!
Chris Butler Are you not going to join in this year Matthew? I don't see why you shouldn't be able to
Matthew Tassier Tempted to, but wouldn't want there to seem to be a conflict of interest in round generation (actually pre-decided but not public) or if I have to rule on dodgy play etc.

Chris Butler Fair enough, I personally wouldn't have any issue with it
Gevin Chapwell "actually pre-decided but not public" - it ends in spoilage though doesn't it!
Matthew Tassier Not necessarily ...
Eoin Jackson As I write, Round 7 (Junior Unlimited vs Rex) is about to go live. How many rounds will there be in total? 23?
Matthew Tassier Yes, in all likelihood 3 lucky people will take part in the 23rd and final round. |
Notes from the organizer: In March after 3 months of competition Chris Butler was declared winner of 2016's Weakest Link numbers tournament. http://www.apterous.org/to_meta.php?meta=5106
As much fun was had, I'm pleased to confirm that January will see the start of the 2017 tournament.
Starting with the easier variants this tournament will be a journey through apterous numbers formats with the lowest scorer(s) being eliminated each round.
One bot will be randomly chosen for each round and all players will play a numbers attack in that round's variant against that bot.
The lowest scoring player (or players if we need to eliminate more than 1) is knocked out each round. If there is a tie then the tiebreaks will be:
1) performance against opponent (i.e. margin of victory/loss over 20 rounds).
2) Total player score over all tournament rounds so far.
Starting from Jan 9th there will be a new round every Monday and Friday. Rounds will be overlapping with a two week time limit giving some flexibility in case of holidays etc. If you are going to be away from apterous for more than a week then aptomail me and you will be able to play round(s) early if necessary.
Hopefully there will again be enough participants to allow us to go through the full list of 23 recognised numbers attacks.
Whether you have designs on winning the tournament, or you're just challenging yourself to get through the first few rounds, please don't hesitate to throw your hat into the ring.
Sign-ups will remain open until the end of the first week of the first round.
Good luck!
Ran from: 9 December 2016 – 15 January 2017. Format: Numbers Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.
