Eoin Jackson "Just one weakest link will be removed from the tournament as this is the first round. If there is a tie for lowest score then margin of victory (or defeat!) will be taken into account amongst tied players. If any player fails to play their game within the time limit then they will take the weakest link spot."

Matthew Tassier There is still time left for players who haven't yet played their matches in round 1 to do so. If any of them do fail to play their game (or score less than Jason has) then Jason will indeed proceed to this round.
Sean Fletcher Rd1 hasn't finished yet, he's just generated fixtures for guaranteed non-weakest links
Eoin Jackson Ah... My mistake.
| |
Gevin Chapwell If, say, two people went out per round and ten people didn't play their round one game, would everyone else get free entry into round 6 whatever their score?
Mike Springett I think you'd be taken off the system if you didn't play for the time limit, and you'd be knocked out for getting a lowest score. That's just my opinion - I could be wrong
Dave Noble In the details in R1, it does say
| |
Matthew Tassier Yes, Dave's got it. If ten people failed to play round 1 they would all be Weakest Links then, but there would still be the announced two people to leave in round 2. Unless you all organise some sort of boycott then this shouldn't impinge on the progress of the tournament!
Tricia Lockhart It'll definitely be goodbye to me unless someone doesn't play their game. And I was quite proud of my full score last round.
Julie McCarthy you should be OK, Tricia, as I'm going to ask Charlie to deactivate my account. Don't want stick around if it's considered OK for Richard Brittain https://www.apterous.org/viewuser.php?user=1976 to rejoin https://www.apterous.org/ticket_view.php?ticket=3405#p49927
Tricia Lockhart You'll be my saviour, Julie.
Tricia Lockhart If Julie withdraws, will I still be gone as the weakest link? Or would it only be if she did not play within the time?
Eoin Jackson Looks like the withdrawal has been made official, as Ailsa was put through to Rd 3.
| |
Sean Fletcher I think Ailsa was put through as velvets score was 100 against her, whereas against Tricia it was 150
Eoin Jackson Yep... But Sean, if Julie were still in contention there is very chance that Ailsa and Tricia would have been eliminated...

Eoin Jackson Yep... But Sean, if Julie were still in contention there is every chance that Ailsa and Tricia would have been eliminated...
Sean Fletcher my mistake, didn't register the 2 weakest links being eliminated properly
Chris Butler I think 'the week' ended about 13 minutes ago by the looks of it anyway, so i presume it's too late for Julie even if she changes her mind
Matthew Tassier With a dozen players starting the tournament with back-to-back max games, it looks like competition will be tough this year. Well played here to this round's Strongest Link, Liam.
Matthew Tassier Ailsa has indeed snuck through on margin of victory, thanks partly to Julie's withdrawal. So, Julie and Tricia you are the Weakest Links. Goodbye! |
Notes from the organizer: Round two will be played in Nice format against Apterous Velvet. With targets (51-500) in Nice guaranteed to be gettable without needing to use all the available numbers this format is fairly friendly. Velvet will favour 2 large numbers and correctly solve the majority of rounds.
The two lowest scoring players will leave the tournament this round. If there is a tie for lowest score then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far. The current total scores will appear next to each player's name below from this round onwards for convenience.
Good luck!
