Eoin Jackson

Eoin Jackson The speed rounds kill me.
Took me a week and 8 practise games to get around to playing this. My average score is just under 140. And 174 is my best. Pure jamminess! :)

Jamie French

Jamie French Great stuff Eoin. Still bullet, hyper bullet and instant to look forward to. :)

Eoin Jackson

Eoin Jackson Tx!
Doubt I'll have to worry about any of that. Omelette is very likely the end of the road.

Tim Down

Tim Down Gutted. Done by misclicks and nerves. Easily my worst ever speed numbers attack.

Steve Balog

Steve Balog Going to take a DNF here, not really been in the right frame of mind to run this recently.

Thanks to Matthew for another great tournament and good luck to everyone still in it.

Eoin Jackson

Eoin Jackson Whoa Tim!
That was the most unlikely of escapes. Congrats!!! :D

Tim Down

Tim Down Pfffff. Can't believe it. I was so cross with myself after I played this round. I think I'll do less practice and less worry for the next round.

Chris Butler

Chris Butler There's a fine balance between not being too blasé and not being too cautious/nervous. A close call can work to your advantage in the long-run though as I discovered in last years comp

Elliott Mellor

Elliott Mellor I don't do practise games really. I might if it's a variant I'm not used to but in general I just find it better to get out the way. It's not like 1 practise game is going to enormously change your abilities. But that's just my opinion.

Tim Down

Tim Down I found a few practice games helped a fair bit with the earlier Hyper rounds, and practice in general is only going to help in the long run, but I agree one practice game is not going to make much difference apart from psychologically.

Gevin Chapwell

Gevin Chapwell I think it can make a difference especially if you haven't played that variant in a while or even ever. Each extra practice game is likely to make less difference but the first will have the most effect.

Eoin Jackson

Eoin Jackson Practise games >:(
I'm not particularly enamoured with those at the moment.

Scored 159 then 169 in practise, then got a 129 in the real thing.

<<< Suppose it's karma for the Speed Round where my practise games ranged from 130-170, then the real game scored 174. (And so the pendulum swings...)

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier A cracking max game including a surprising 4L pick in the first round sees Strongest Link Chris climb to second place on cumulative score. A couple of other excellent 197s from Zarte and Elliot.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier And late drama at the other end sees a couple of relieved players sneak into the next round. So, thanks for playing but, Jim and Steve you are the Weakest Links, Goodbye!

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Yeah, I intended to try the whole thing on 4L but quickly bottled it! Luckily I didn't regret making the switch

Tourney round: Weakest Link Numbers Tournament 2017: Round 11 - Speed

<< Round 10 - Hyperlock | Round 12 - Omelette >>

Notes from the organizer: Time to step it up the pace a bit now as round eleven is be a Speed Numbers Attack against Apterous Waldorf. Waldorf likes 1 large and seems to panic in speed rounds meaning he may not even trouble the scorers.
The two lowest scoring players in this round will leave the tournament. If there is a tie for lowest scores then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
Well done on making it this far!

Ran from: 13 – 26 February 2017. Format: Speed Numbers Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.
