Anthony Endsor

Anthony Endsor Hi Dave. Will the divisions be decided randomly, or will they be seeded by proranks, etc?

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Ah yes sorry, forgot to mention! Current plan is to seed the first set of divisions on current standard rating to give us a reasonable starting point :)

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Still a few more days to sign-up before we kick things off on Thursday.

The league season will now be halved in length, with round-robin games taking place from mid April to mid May and then two weeks being allotted for sign-ups for next 'season', during which some playoffs will also happen.

Dave Robjohns We're about halfway through the season now! Still a fair few games to go in every division but generally that's down to one or two players who've been less active.

Still 4 players on all wins, 3 of whom are in the Premier League!

In around 2 weeks I'll be opening the league up for signups for Season 2. Those who've played at least half their games (4+ in all bar D5 where 3+) will automatically be included unless they tell me otherwise. Those who haven't played many will need to confirm they want to stay involved and think they'll be able to play more next season.

You may've seen the extra tab in the sheet added a few days ago tracking maxes! This is for the handicap league cup next season that I mentioned in the original sign-up round. Much less mathematically detailed than James Rowan's handicap tourney, but should hopefully still make a fairly level playing field :)

Dave Robjohns One week left to finish your league games! Games not completed will be considered on a case by case basis, so if you've aptomailed your opponent and they haven't responded you'll likely be given the game. In the cases of Anoush/Mich who've so far not played, they'll currently lose all games.

7 players are finished, while a further 11 only have one game left.

I'm going to open up sign-ups for Season 2 shortly. As said above, you will automatically be registered if you've played at least half of your games, and the list will reflect that :) That is currently 30/39 players.

Dave Robjohns So, season 1 done and we saw a reasonable 75% of games completed by the deadline. 25% of those were won on crucials, so nice to see the league producing close games as intended.

We have 40 signed up for next season already, with a couple of weeks still to go! I'm currently working out what to do structure wise, as the 3 newbies are all very good!

This probably won't be particularly interesting until we have a couple of season's worth of data, but procrastinated to the max and produced a 'hall of fame' & stats page: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1Tc4zHws6t-mR7h4zsJQvrWyFxDSiuStjtN9ChKCAGW0/edit#gid=0

Thanks again all for playing! Cup games should now be up, and the new leagues will be set up soon.

Dan Byrom Somehow managed to get most maxes and still only win one game out of eight!

Loving the stats page ❤️

Tourney round: AptoLeague: Sign-up Round

Premier League >>

Notes from the organizer: Presenting AptoLeague, a set of tournaments for players of all ratings to test themselves against opponents of similar ratings.

Do well and you can achieve promotion to the next tier, struggle and you may face relegation.

I intend to run the league as 3 month long seasons (the first of which is April-June), as follows:
Now -> Mid April: Sign-ups
Mid April -> Mid June: League stage. Depending on entrants, everyone will be split into divisions (most likely of 8 or 10) and all play all once. Similar to sports divisions, games will likely be added 1-2 at a time each week.
Mid June -> End June: A few promotion/relegation playoffs!
Mid June -> Mid July: Sign-ups for 2nd season

Alongside this I plan to run a handicap league cup - from season 2 onwards handicaps would be based on your average raw league score.

Sign-ups are set to be open for 4 weeks currently. I intend to start the leagues on 16th April but due to the short notice will allow further sign-ups for 2 weeks. Should there be enough interest after this deadline, an extra tier will be formed.

Once a bit more is known about entry numbers etc, I'll be creating a google doc so you can track your progress.

All are welcomed to sign up! The idea is to give people of all ratings a tough - but winnable - challenge!

I'll add anything else I can think of saying in the comments - please feel free to ask any queries there too.

Ran from: 2 – 30 April 2020. Format: 15 Rounder. Matches: One-off. Approved.
