Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Please note the additional rules ahead of this game, as I've had a few reports suspicious disconnections in some other aptolympic rounds (numbers particularly)

*IMPORTANT EXTRA RULES:*
You must either:
1) Play your game in one stint (to prevent disconnects for second goes)
2) Obviously, sometimes having to disappear is unavoidable, especially where games are this long. If you have to go or want to stop, you must write in aptochat "Pausing Long Jump game after X rounds" and wait AT LEAST 60 seconds before logging off. Again, this should prevent deliberate disconnecting.

In the rare case of a genuine disconnection, please contact me. The game in question will be invalidated (sorry, but this is the fairest way), but you may be granted an extra attempt.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Additionally, this being the long jump, you are allowed up to 6 attempts at this. But I know NAs are tedious for some, so this is optional.

Please 'Nice' this comment to be added to Event 62b, where you get 5 more goes.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Reminder that you need to let me know if you wish to have the maximum 6 attempts at this round.

Fiona T

Fiona T Please add me a second game Dave

Fiona T

Fiona T Oh sorry - just read instructions! :D

Dan Byrom

Dan Byrom I heavily regret asking for more games... Didn't realise how much of a grind this would be! Any chance you could please remove my extra games for me? Thanks

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Hehe, I hear that! Done, though I’m not sure how effective removing games is... hopefully at the very least you’ll only have to play 2 (one per round) rather than 5

Dave Robjohns Event 62 of 66;
🥇 🇭🇺 Sam Cappleman-Lynes 534
🥈 🇦🇺 Edward Ashcroft 392
🥉 🇫🇷 Thomas Cappleman 251

A brutal round. That 200 rounds would only get you 7th shows the sheer strength of this field. Sam’s 534 round stint is most probably the longest streak of consecutive maxes Apterous has seen. Probably the biggest gap to 2nd in the Aptolympics, but Edward’s 392 nowt to be sniffed at! Tom‘s 251 rounds off the medals, spread over 4 days to keep me on my toes :P

4 events to go, hopefully finishing today. I’ll put the final details on this event when done. One thing I can say is, having reached an unassailable 69 Golds with this win, Sam is now confirmed as our overall Olympic champion. Michael Phelps has his work cut out to top that!

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns So, congratulations to Sam on finishing as the overall Aptolympic Champion with a huge 69 gold medals. Jack follows in 2nd on 54, and Joseph in 3rd overall on 43 - the battle for 2nd actually going down to the final match.

After 3746 games, 1078 medals, 339 golds, 77 aptomail threads, 66 events, 59 days, 50 competitors, 33 sports, 30 variants, 20 live events, 12 nations and numerous records (ranging from standard 9 to most maxes in a Greek 15), the 2020 Aptolympics finally draws to a close.

31 players played over 100 games throughout, with Sam's 256 across 63 events topping the list (have everyone's stats should they want...).

Just want to thank everyone who took part in this and made it so fun to run - really helped fill up what would otherwise have been a rather dull covidy summer! The stat above says it all - so many of you put a lot of time into this and made it a fun, competitive spectacle. Congrats again to Sam - such a strong field in this tourney!

Steven Oldham

Steven Oldham A massive undertaking Dave ,which I think we are all grateful for you to doing - was a lot of fun.
Would like to see my stats :)

Tourney round: Aptolympics 2020: Event 62: Long jump

<< Event 61: 50m freestyle | Event 62b: Longer Jump >>

Notes from the organizer: Event 62 is the Long Jump, and this is the final event done through the tourney system; the final four events are live.

The task here is to play Soap in a Nice NA, and have the longest game possible; a long distance jump. I will set everyone up 1 attempt here, but you are allowed *UP TO SIX ATTEMPTS - PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU WANT MORE GOES*, to simulate the number of attempts you'd get in the Olympic long jump. Realistically therefore, it's best to get your first attempt done early.

This event is worth 5 medals, and a whole lot of cudos if you take Soap a long way!

Attempts are tracked more clearly here: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/19s4MNWHNXg5OFoU9sKFvzIcggZZ3--_YjqM1PDVd_DA/edit#gid=1703390826
