Tourney round: Bot Ladders: Round 4: Instant Letters

<< Round 3: Touch Jnr Conundrums | Round 5: Octorock Numbers >>

Notes from the organizer: It's time to step it up a notch. The first three rounds were all about small things; shortest words, small 1&2 large rounds, the smallest pool of conundrums. The next three will see us tackle some more medium sized tasks. Prime will likely start seeing his win rate climb again, but we'll still see some great performances I'm sure... the worst is yet to come.

The second letters level will be Instant. If you find picking letters tedious, this is the round for you. The bots can be rather inconsistent, so it's worth having a few bashes at some of the bots. The bonuses in these three rounds become a bit easier, to make up for the wins being harder to come by.

As ever, your standard points on the intermediary ladder are:
0 - Didn't play
1 - Beat Prune
2 - Beat Nude
3 - Beat Waldorf
4 - Beat Plum
5 - Beat Caesar
6 - Beat Velvet
7 - Beat Prime
And the bonuses:
Easy - Spot a 9 in your game
Medium - Score in every round
Hard - Do your game with 3s time constraints (or less)

So for 10 points, you'll need to beat Prime in an Instant LA, scoring in all 20 three-second rounds and finding a 9 in the process.

Why is the format medium?
The bots dip a bit in terms of maxes count here compared to other 8-9 length formats
Why is finding a 9 easy?
Not easy by any means, but you'd expect 1-2 per game and are more likely to win if you find one!
Why is scoring in every round medium?
It's tough, but doable. Might be harder for people taking on lower bots since they find obscure maxes
Why is 3s hard?
In aegilops, reducing the time made the bots weak, while my ability barely changed. In instant, I found the opposite (albeit small sample size and 2s, I was getting tired of losing by 100+!)
