Dave Robjohns Existing players - as ever, you do not need to sign up. However, I'm interested in your thoughts on the new format for last season - please vote by 'nicing' comments below:

Dave Robjohns Option 1 - Season 7 to stick with the current two stage format (conference & final stage)
Dave Robjohns Option 2 - Season 7 to revert to straightforward leagues, with one stage and promotion & relegation of top/bottom 2

Anthony Endsor Hi Dave. I can see the imagination and thought that's gone into the new style format, and I definitely appreciate you trying to bring something different to the game, but personally I felt it didn't really work for a league system, mainly because, with the season being split into two halves, it was as if the season was over after a couple of games, then restarted, so didn't have the endurance factor that a league should have. I don't know how anyone else felt about it, would be interesting to get some additional thoughts.
Dave Kempshall Hi Dave - I enjoyed the new format. I think it gave those who started poorly a 2nd bite of the cherry in the final stage. I would agree with Anthony though that it felt like the reset to final stage came very quickly. Also, if you were in a group where two or more people weren't around much to play their games, it kind of screwed the whole league up as two out of six or seven is a big % of the competitors. A lot of the time that was down to people being online and not accepting though, but instead playing bots, which I find a bit weird. Bigger groups perhaps might solve that? I don't know the answer, but both formats I've experienced come with pros and cons.
Dave Robjohns Cheers both - I had noticed that only D4 players had voted for the new format - presumably because with 7 games in each section it's much more of a season; 5 games elsewhere definitely a bit short. Something I've considered is also playing multiple games per opponent, which might have improved things, but I think you're right, bigger groups (say 3 divisions of ~18) would have probably worked better.

Dave Robjohns Another update, while I'm here... Season 7 will be the first to feature completely automatic league tables, which *should* update roughly every 30-60 mins so you don't need to wait for me :)
| |
Stu Harkness The tables are quite frankly, legendary.
Andy SC Dave certainly wins the award for Production of Apterous Tournament Results Award.

Dave Robjohns Just a reminder that the deadline to sign-up for the league is this weekend! :)
Steven Grady The league isn't showing in my tournaments, even though I was accepted to it. Am I still taking part?
Dave Robjohns Yep all good - we'll be starting tomorrow :)
| |
Steven Grady Brill, thanks Dave!
Oliver Walker I'd love to join - no worries if too late! :-) |
Notes from the organizer: AptoLeague's 7th season will start in March!
For those unfamiliar with the format, it works as a league system, with promotions and relegations at the end of each 'season' (approx 2 months). Currently the seasons are split into a conference phase and a final stage, each lasting around a month.
Season 7 will begin on 1st March, and is set to end on 30th April.
The players involved in Season 6 (our biggest ever!) will automatically be entered into next season unless they tell me otherwise

Alongside the league is a cup competition and annual champions trophy!
Overall, if you're looking for some regular competitive & well-matched games, sign-up below! :D
