Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Was really hoping for a rare early spoilage round that I might sneak through and then get something else for the final

Martin Long

Martin Long This is going to be a really tough round for whoever remains. :-)

Tal Lessner

Tal Lessner Tom, you still might get Hypertouch for the final.

Elliott Mellor

Elliott Mellor Well that's definitely me out. My bogey round again.

Tim Down

Tim Down Lost it a bit there after a couple of decent practice games (I know, first ones all tournament, let that be a lesson to me). Thanks for organising, Matthew, it's been enormous fun as always.

Elliott Mellor

Elliott Mellor Yeah this has once again been a tremendously fun tournament to play in - been a real source of enjoyment for me in a time where that's been rare. Thanks for organising Matthew and best of luck to those remaining - look forward to seeing a new name win it.

Sam Cappleman-Lynes

Sam Cappleman-Lynes File that under “skin of my teeth”
Needed 37 points from 4 rounds

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Qualifying for the final 5, 2 players managed an impressive 18/20 maxes in this awkward test, Mervyn and Strongest Link Dave.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Finishing 8th, following up on his 7th place finish last year, is Tim. This year's 7th is reigning champion, top cumulative scorer, and general numbers superstar Elliott. And in 6th, only missing out by a point thanks to Sam's nerveless finish, it's been a stunning debut effort from reluctant numberist Chris. So, Chris, Elliott and Tim you are the Weakest Links. Goodbye!

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Thanks for hosting, Matthew. If you'd told me before we started that I was going to score the highest raw score of the round in an Octolock NA against Rex, miss out on the top five by a point, and finish ahead of Tim, Elliott, and half a dozen other far superior numberists, I'd have asked you

(a) what drugs you were taking, and

(b) could I have some please?

Best of luck to everyone left standing!

Tourney round: Weakest Link Numbers Tournament 2021: Round 22 - Octolock

<< Round 21 - Bullet Hyper | Round 23 - Hypertouch >>

Notes from the organizer: For the antepenultimate round the final 8 players face the long awaited appearance of Octolock. With larges of 20, 30, 40 and 50 and only 5 numbers to work with, it can be an unusual task, particularly as your opponent here is Rex, who will choose the rarely played 4 Large option. As with Octorock some players may get games with far lower possible max scores than others do. No whinging will be accepted, that's just luck of the draw once more.

Some stats for this round:
Expected competitors : 8
Weakest Links required : 3
Highest WL Octolock score : 167 - Mervyn Tong
Previous rounds v this bot : 2017 Round 22 ( https://www.apterous.org/to_tourney.php?tourney=1914 )
Highest scoring Octolock Weakest Link : 111 - Elliott Mellor (2017)
For more stats see spreadsheet linked below.

THREE lowest scoring Weakest Links will be removed from the tournament this round. If there is a tie for lowest scores then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
