Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns One week left to get these games done for Season 15 - so now is the ideal time to be sending out those aptomails and getting the remaining fixtures done.

Almost everyone is past half way now so thanks all for getting many of the games in promptly :)

Dan Byrom

Dan Byrom eep - everyone please ping me to save me from starting 10 mails myself! I will try to come on for a bit this evening

Dan Byrom

Dan Byrom For those still to play me (which is most of you!), I will be online this evening, from about 8pm. I will also check online every so often throughout the afternoon today. Please send me a message to arrange something if that would be helpful.

Philip Aston

Philip Aston Great tourney, Dave. For future, would you consider scheduling one match at a time and giving each player, say, two weeks to play it, rather than all games at once? That way, everyone, or at least almost everyone, completes their games, there’s no procrastinating, and there’s no streaking ahead by playing all your games early while others are not even halfway through playing their games with just a few days left.

Anthony Endsor

Anthony Endsor Philip, in what way would that help people complete their games? It would mean all players would have to be available within a 2 week window instead of going on holiday for a month and catching up later, which the current system allows. This would also stretch each season to nearly 6 months, which in all honesty would make the competition a bit stale after a while.

Mike Lee

Mike Lee I agree with Anthony, the format isn’t broken so it doesn’t need fixing.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Cheers :) Yeah I'd basically echo what Anthony said - I think short seasons are key to the promotion/relegation format as it keeps things interesting, and it's nice to be able to get games done as and when both players are available rather than waiting for a specific slot. I don't think the mismatch in games played at times is a huge issue as long as the majority get played in the end :) (also, on my side, significantly easier/quicker admin-wise to set it up as one block!)

Philip Aston

Philip Aston That’s fair enough, thought I’d ask.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness I think it's just always been the way that there's a flurry of activity at the start, a bit of a lull in the middle and a mad panic at the end. Notoriously tough division to escape from, up or down...

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns Yeah - does make me wonder sometimes if going back to 1.5 months per season wouldn't be a bad thing, to reduce that quiet chunk - doubt (m)any less games would get played. Always keen to have feedback/discussion on the format and tweak bits over the seasons so cheers for bringing it up Philip :)

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Stu - I found it extremely easy to escape down.

Dave Kempshall

Dave Kempshall Dave - I think a 1.5 month season would be a great idea.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Glad you got your win on the board South Korea! Don't be a stranger :'(

Dave Robjohns I'm thinking about changing the season length from S16 onwards. To have your say on that, please vote in the comments here: https://www.apterous.org/to_tourney.php?tourney=4275

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Same middle 8 as last season!

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Exclusive club.

Dave Robjohns

Dave Robjohns A peculiar but very D2 season, as Stu alludes to. The two players from the PL in S14 are heading back up, and the two players from D3 in S14 are heading back down. Philip, the only other addition, takes 3rd - leaving D2 club (<3) occupying the safe places.

So, congratulations to Dan & George, who are both back to the top - a third promotion for each of them - and second D2 title for Dan. A strong first season for Philip wasn't quite enough as it went down to points difference! At the other end, points difference hurt 3 time D3 champion Anthony, who'll be hoping to make it 4 and seek revenge in a couple of seasons! Dave's debut D2 season ends with relegation but an impressive one for a player that started out in D5! The other 8 players continued to make D2 mid table their home.

Tourney round: AptoLeague: S15 Division 2

<< S15 Premier League | S15 Division 3 >>

Notes from the organizer: We welcome Philip into the league for the first time, as top seed here alongside the pair of past D2 champions who came down last season. Additionally, it's the return of the Dave derby after S14 was a rare season without one!
