Eoin Jackson Does not look like we are gonna get anywhere close to last year's 83... 🙁
Bailey Cowell It says it begins on 29th but no game here. When is the first game going to be?
Matthew Tassier Just sorting some technicals. The games will be appearing tomorrow rather than today, and then we'll be proceeding on the expected schedule.
| |
Eoin Jackson Of course it will be competitive. It could competitive with just 5 players.
| |
Gevin Chapwell Maybe it would get more if it was advertised with a ticket. Stuff appearing at the top with a load of tournaments I'm not doing doesn't exactly jump out.
Eoin Jackson (Poor Frank Cornthwaite though...)
Bailey Cowell Just a question, is there a Weakest Link for letters/conundrums?
Matthew Tassier There has been one of each, a few years ago, and I occasionally run a mixed "Mayhem" version.
Matthew Tassier Tomorrow is the FINAL DAY to sign-up and join in the action.
Eoin Jackson Still have my fingers crossed for Frank! 🤞🏻
Elwin Carlos Gosh, almost missed this! Sign me up please!

J Bartram I have signed up thanks Eoin.
Tlou Laz Is it too late to squeeze a small one in? :)
Matthew Tassier Well, go on then, seeing as it's you. But don't tell everyone else that the WL host is really a soft touch.
Tlou Laz I feel honoured!
Tlou Laz thank you! |
Notes from the organizer: Welcome to the 7th annual running of the Apterous Weakest Link Numbers Tournament. Last year Edward won the tournament, defeating a record 82 rivals to add his name to the role of honour:
2016 - Chris Butler
2017 - Thomas Carey
2018 - Bradley Horrocks
2019 - Bradley Horrocks
2020 - Elliott Mellor
2021 - Edward Ashcroft

Will 2022 see Edward defending his crown? Can one of our other previous winners return to conquer again? Is it time for a new champion? By the end of the year we will find out!
Starting with the easier variants this tournament will be a journey through 24 apterous numbers formats with the lowest scorer(s) being eliminated each round.
One bot will be randomly chosen for each round and all players will play a numbers attack in that round's variant against that bot.
The lowest scoring player (or more likely two, three or four players) is knocked out each round. If there is a tie for lowest score then the tiebreaks will be:
1) Performance against opponent (i.e. margin of victory/loss over 20 rounds).
2) Total player score over all tournament rounds so far.
With the first round beginning on August 29th, there should be a new round every Monday and Friday for about 3 months. Rounds will be overlapping with a two week time limit giving some flexibility in case of holidays etc. If you are going to be away from apterous for more than a week then aptomail me and you will be able to play round(s) early if necessary.
NOTE : Games should be played in a single sitting (barring unforeseen problems), after all there's no passing and coming back later in The Weakest Link. Any penalties for anyone repeatedly failing to do this will be at the organiser's discretion.
Whether you have designs on winning the tournament, or you're just challenging yourself to get through the first few rounds, please don't hesitate to throw your hat into the ring.
Sign-ups will remain open until the end of the first week of the first round.
All aboard!
