Rhys Benjamin We have a few players who've played 25 of the 26 games. If that one missing player (with zero played so far) withdraws they will have "voted".
Stu Harkness No offence to this person, but why enter competitions such as this one if you're not going to play the games?
| |
Last Ashwin Hero I have 5 Eurovision games left to play. However I find I'm not able to sign in same time as them due to other commitments. But will try and finish those fixfures where i can
Kieran Bray Hello all - apologies, the aforementioned non-player is me! I've had a huge amount on lately (yes, there is a bit more to life than Apterous :D)
| |
Jason Larsen Oh no! I hope you're ok, Kieran.
Rhys Benjamin So with that, we have 5 players who have completed their matches. In the order they completed, I will now "announce" their points.

Rhys Benjamin Walkovers:
| |
Stu Harkness Can I also claim a walkover? I aptomailed about a different tournament and thought it would be churlish to do so in two separate ones!
Rhys Benjamin The results are in, and we have a winner! Retaining his title, with 175 points, is Tom Cappleman!
| |
Rhys Benjamin Not really, Stu, since this is the first I'm hearing about it.
Stu Harkness It's, not, gonna, make, much, difference, for, this, year's, tournament Rhys but, maybe, the, unplayed, games, needs, to, be, brought, up, to, half?

Notes from the organizer: 27 signer-uppers, so no semi finals this year.
RULES OF THE APTEROUS EUROVISION SONG CONTEST:
Objectives:
Your objective is very simple: to score as many points as you can against your opponent. The top 10 highest-scoring players against you will receive points "from" you: 12-10-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. To score points yourself, therefore, you must come in the top 10 highest scores against a particular opponent. In a case of a tie in an individual vote (e.g. if two people score 50 against you), the higher amount of points will be awarded to the game that was played first. In case of a tie in the overall scoreboard, then the tie will be broken by the following procedure: fewest 0s, most 12s, most 10s, most 8s, most 7s (etc), until most 1s. If the scores are still tied, then whoever had the higher score in an individual game will be awarded the higher position.
Penalties and unplayed games:
UNPLAYED GAMES WILL RESULT IN A UNILATERAL POINTS DEDUCTION, measured by % - for example, a player playing 21 out of 26 games will have their score reduced by 19%. These deductions can be waived if one player can demonstrate a meaningful effort to play the game - **so please include me in any Aptomails** - and will be adjudged to win the game 50-0, so may still gain points from you. This is to avoid deliberate evasion of playing stronger players. Any player who does not play a third (33%) of their games (taking into account the waiving process described above) will be disqualified. They will not award points, they will not be able to receive points in the games they have played, and games against them will be null and void.
Ran from: 3 April – 14 May 2023. Format: 9 Rounder. Matches: One-off. Approved.
Fixtures: 325. Completed: 289.
Key. Green: winner. Red: loser. Grey: tie. (Stripes: provisional, match in progress.)
