Andy SC Note - Aptomail me your choices

Alex Williamson

Alex Williamson Looks a great tournament, I just can't face the 25 duckdowns :D

Andy SC

Andy SC That is a possibility but I highly doubt 25 people are sad enough to pick Duckdown, Alex :)

Andy SC

Andy SC One week until the tournament starts. Please try and pick your format and bot choice before the start of Round 1. This is so any format can be selected as a possible round for Round 1.

Andy SC

Andy SC I've decided that I'm going to close Sign-ups on the 25TH AUGUST. If you've not picked your choice of format or bot by then can you please do so ASAP.

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Is this similar to the one George ran recently?

Andy SC

Andy SC George? Don't you mean Matthew?

Stu Harkness

Stu Harkness Joj!

Andy SC

Andy SC I'm assuming you mean the 1 v 100 tournament. In that case, it's the same in the sense that people are picking formats and it has the same principles as the many other weakest link tournaments that have been hosted on here.

George Armstrong

George Armstrong Equally 1 vs 100 was the similar in comparison to Andy's Advent Calendar tourney in that people got to pick format/variants. Basically we all borrow bits from each other but tweak them and add new elements to make our own fun and unique tourneys :)

Andy SC

Andy SC Basically you can do a lot of things where you let people choose formats.

Andy SC

Andy SC Reminder that Sign-ups close on Friday.

Andy SC

Andy SC Sign-ups close tomorrow for People's Choice Weakest Link. If you've not picked your format and bot already and would like your choice to be selected for Round 1 then I would advise picking it today because I will be creating the page for Round 1 sometime during the day tomorrow.

Andy SC

Andy SC Last day to sign-up for this tournament. If you enter but don't pick a format before the start of Round 1, you will then have until the conclusion of Round 1 to pick. After that you'll have a format and bot randomly picked for you

Tourney round: People's Choice Weakest Link 2023: Sign-up page

Round 1a: Touch Junior 15 >>

Notes from the organizer: Do you like The Weakest Link? Do you like Weakest Link tournaments on Apterous? Do you like being slightly evil and picking devilish formats? If you've answered "yes" to any of those questions than this tournament is most certainly for you but anybody's welcome anyway.

Welcome to the People's Choice Weakest Link. As the name suggests players will be picking the format and the choice of bot for each round. So literally expect anything to show up with a few exceptions, all of which will be detailed further down.

Here's how it will work:
- Each round will be played against a bot and in a format that has been picked by a player.
- The lowest scoring player will be eliminated each round. If there is a tie for the lowest scoring player each round then the overall tournament scoring (which will be posted in the notes section of each game) will be used. If there is still a tie then everyone that is tied will be allowed to progress.
- If half the players in any round tie for lowest score then everyone will advance.
- Everyone will get two games in Round 1. Someone will then be eliminated. Everyone that remains will then get two games in round 2. This is to allow for everyone's pick to be selected and so we finish with three players in the final round. This includes me entering the tournament but not picking a format.
- If no player is eliminated in a round, I will then pick a random format and bot at the next available round in order to accommodate the extra round.

Round 1 will start on the 26th August. Round 2 will start on the 28th August. Round 3 will start out he 30th August with each round after that starting the following day assuming that two players have qualified. Rounds will have a one week time limit. You are encouraged to play your game at the earliest opportunity. I'll add any games as quickly as possible when possible, so please keep an eye out for any games that you may have to play.

Please play games in one sitting.

Sign-ups will remain open until the penultimate day of Round 1.

Upon signing up you are required to pick a format and a bot. You can pick anything from the high scoring page as long as it's not A Mocktorun, Old Mocktorun or any foreign conundrum attacks - https://www.apterous.org/statland.php?section=highscores

If you have any questions please feel free to ask.
