Fiona T If one were to skip rounds (i.e. declare nothing) in the second half, would the points for the first half equivalent round count?
Thomas Carey can't see why they wouldn't, intersection is empty! can always declare a 1 or something
Chris Hare Thomas is correct. If you declare nothing, that clearly has no letters in common with anything else.

Notes from the organizer: The end is nigh. The fire has dwindled to embers, the wine cellar is considerably emptier and only a few scrapings of trifle linger around the edges of the bowl. One last game for the road?
Game Twelve is a Beanstalk Letters Attack. Now, pay attention, because this could get complicated.
A Beanstalk Letters Attack has 26 rounds: rounds 1 to 13 (hereafter referred to as "the first half") and rounds 14 to 26 (hereafter referred to as "the second half"). Your task is to make sure that your declarations in each round of the first half share no letters with your declarations in the equivalent rounds of the second half. Only pairs of rounds in which you do this will count towards your score. (For the mathematically-minded players: you score by ensuring that the intersection of the sets of letters you use in your declarations in rounds R and R+13 is empty.)
Here's an example. Bartholomew declares CAT in round 1 of his game, and DOG in round 2. Later in the game, he declares MOUSE in round 14 and EGGS in round 15. He scores 8 points for rounds 1 & 14, because there are no common letters between CAT and MOUSE, but no points for rounds 2 & 15, because there is a G in both DOG and EGGS.
The BONUS TOURNAMENT POINT for this game will be awarded to any player who maxes both of a pair of rounds, regardless of whether the maxes share any letters.
If you have any questions about the rules, scoring, or anything else pertaining to this tourney, please feel free to ask.
