![]() | Fiona T Can you clarify what you mean by 'unique letters' please? Confused.com |
![]() | Tom Cappleman Are points 1 and 2 just a convoluted way of saying you score a goal if you win with a max? |
![]() | Andy SC @Fiona - Probably used the wrong wording. Basically if you win the round with a max you score a goal.
|
![]() | Andy SC Addition to point above, thats as long as your opponent does not score |
![]() | Dan Spinks "If the numbers round is possible to get to the target, then closest to the target within five will get the goal." Should that say 'not possible'? |
![]() | Andy SC Yes it should, Dan. :) |
![]() | Ben Bazzard @Andy - thanks for setting this up. Just seen your message that I should have picked a team; apologies I joined last minute but see you've given me the mighty Real Sociedad! Come on the txuri-urdin!! |
![]() | Stephen Elsley Thanks for organising this Andy. Going to be a great tourney, even though I know I'm going to be eliminated at the group stage |
![]() | Elwin Carlos Phwoar, must admit, couple of tasty-looking groups here! Out of curiosity, how was the draw made? Was it based on player abilities, or team coefficients? |
![]() | Andy SC Players were seeded into pots by a combination of last week's pro ranks and team coefficients. |
![]() | Adam Latchford I don't quite understand why Joe would score a goal for declaring relations. Doesn't sit right with me whatsoever and Joe should be disqualified |
![]() | Andy SC Purely for your entertainment, Adam :) |
![]() | Stu Harkness Joe's not involved! |
![]() | Andy SC Reminder that the deadline for playing games is 18th March. |

![]() | Darren Godfrey Hi Andy - I have four games to play against Matt OC, rather than two...could you fix, please? |
![]() | Andy SC @Darren - I'm afraid there's not much I can do. I think this is probably one of those cases where the tournament fixture bug has occured. |
![]() | Darren Godfrey Okiedoke, we'll play two and leave it at that. Hoepfully we'll hit the right ones for home and away! |
![]() | Andy SC I'll take one where you're player one and where Matt is player one. |
![]() | Last Ashwin Hero sorry, i was outta the country for a bit. I'm back now 2 try and catch up with fixtures |

Notes from the organizer: Welcome to the Group Stage of Champions League.
Firstly, thanks to Dan Spinks for helping with the draw.
Secondly, deadline for playing games is 18th March.
Players have been split into 12 groups of 5 teams each. You will each play each other 'home' and 'away'. So that will be 8 games in total within your group. The top 2 from each group will advance to the Knockout stage. 3rd and 4th in each group will drop down to the Europa League. Bottom of each group will be eliminated altogether.
In each match, 3 points will be awarded for a win, 1 point for a draw and 0 points awarded for a loss. Players in each group will be ranked by points total. If they can't be separated by that then head to head record will be taken into account. If they can't be separated by that then goal difference and goals scored will be considered. If there is still no separation then whom was ever ranked highest in the seedings will advance.
Goals can be scored as follows:
1. Achieving a unique letters. For example Joe declares RELATIONS in a round and Donald declares RELATION. Joe would score a goal as he declared a max for the round and Donald didn't.
2. In letters round you can score a goal by solving the numbers round bang on and your opponent not. If the numbers round is possible to get to the target, then closest to the target within five will get the goal.
3. Solving the Conundrum.
Deadline for playing games is up to and including 18th March, the 25th March deadline on the tournament page is purely to allow for extensions. This will be regularly communicated throughout the group stage. Any extensions MUST be requested and granted before the deadline with a date for playing having to be agreed up to a week after deadline. If they come after the deadline, they will not be accepted.
Any played games will be treated as follows:
1. Unplayed games where players are considered to have made equal effort to play the game will both be awarded a 0-0 draw.
2. Unplayed games where one player has made more of an effort to play the game will be awarded a 3-0 victory.
3. Unplayed games where neither player is considered to have made any effort will both be awarded 3-0 defeats.
I need to be made aware of any efforts to get games played prior to the deadline in order to make any potential decisions easier.
