Dave Kempshall One game has an extension from the Euros group, which will decide the four 3rd places. i will put up the remaining 4 fixtures as soon as that is played.
Dave Kempshall All fixtures are up now. Some mouthwatering clashes already. Please try and get your games played at the earliest opportunity and do Cc me into any arrangment mails.
Fiona T Doesn't apply to my game, but presumably if goals not equal you would disregard the conundrums?
Dave Kempshall Yes Fiona, same as two of the other results so far. If goals are equal but apterous doesn't agree, then I set up a CCCCC period of ET + pens.
Dave Kempshall We've now reached the QF stage of the Euros and SF of the Copa. If you could try and arrange your game at the earliest opportunity to keep us on track that'd be super. gl all.
Dave Kempshall We have our Copa Final - Mexico (T-Cap) will take on USA (George) at the North American sides upset the South American footballing giants. GL in the final chaps.
Dave Kempshall And just like that, we have our champion. Mexico bagged a 1st minute goal and sat back and soaked up the pressure throughout the game. As the USA threw caution to the wind late on, the Mexicans broke to add a second and clinch the Copa America title! VWP throughout Tom and congratulations. Also VWP George, a runners-up medal that was fully deserved.
Adam Latchford Dan/Fiona I think you're gonna have to let me win these games, we cannot risk the bad luck energy and football not coming home x
Fiona T I'm Scottish. Just sayin' ;)
Dave Kempshall After a gruelling four week, we have our Euro 2024 final, and it's Denmark (Fiona) v England (Adam). Is football coming home, or will Fiona bring home the bacon? gl both.
Fiona T Rematch from group stage!
Fiona T Congrats England :)
Dave Kempshall In a well matched final, Gareth Latchgate shocked the world by attacking the Danish defence early as England took the lead inside 10 minutes. Both sides played a game of tactical chess for large period with Denmark threatening the England goal on several occasions and England also looking dangerous on the counter. As the game wore on, England decided to protect their lead and - despite some nervy moments late on - held on to claim their first European Championship title and ensure that - on this website at least - football came home! Very well played across the whole tournament guys, congrats to both and especially to our champion Adam. Bring on the Finalissima!
Adam Latchford Thanks for running the tournament Dave! Good to see football come home, but was pushed all the way. God save the king

Adam Latchford Tom - you free at 7:30 on either sat or sun to play this? ATP on both days at 8
Tom Cappleman Sure, let's go Saturday (may be closer to 7.45, depending on dinner timing)
Adam Latchford vamosssssssssssss
Dave Kempshall In an extremely closely matched Finalissima between Mexico (Tom) and England (Adam) it took a piece of absolute quality to separate the teams with Tom belting in from 35 yards just before half-time with RASGUEADO. Mexico emerge victorious, but both Tom and Adam are winner winning the Copa and Euros respectively. Thanks to everyone for playing and see you next year for more international football action. Cheers.
Adam Latchford Cheers for organising it all and congrats to mexico. Who knew the T in T cap stood for tequila. |
Notes from the organizer: So we move onto the knockout stages. After a lot of feedback from people I’ve decided to alter this slightly. We will be playing World Cup + ET format (LLNLLLNLNLN), which is played over 11 rounds, but selections are shared between both players as opposed to one players picking throughout.
It means no conundrums in normal time, (7 letters / 4 numbers). Conundrums will come into play if a game goes to extra time though. Extra time is played out over five conundrums. If all is still level after extra time, then sudden death conundrums will act as the penalty shoot-out.
Scoring is as per the group stages, to score a goal you must win a round with a max. This does throw up the possibility of a game being drawn, but not drawn as Apterous scores it. In the event of this I will set up a separate CCCCC match for you to play.

Good luck!
