Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts Morning folks! It's two weeks until the real Formula 1 season kicks off with saturday qualifying in Australia so today is where we begin! You have one week to play your qualifying games, then next Sunday I'll be uploading the Grand Prix games.

Weather forecast for Albert Park on Sat 15th March is all sunny so no weather to worry about here.

Spreadsheet link and updated regulation will be posted here later this weekend.

Despite stupidly putting FA at the start of the name, I'll use this one tourney page for both the Formula Apterous and Formula Dipterous categories, so will be uploading the other 16 players' games shortly. Good luck all!

still to be prettified a little bit (colour coding for the car livery themes!) but here's your link to track qualifying.

I've made the executive decision to allow visibility of live results during game rounds. If you want to wait til the last minute to gather as much data as possible to pip your opponent's speeds, that might not sound fair in an apterous tourney context but it's the spirit of motorsport!

Dan Spinks

Dan Spinks there are several 30.1 seconds and a 45 seconds showing as fastest solves on the FD spreadsheet. is this a spreadsheet error or a rule I'm not understanding?

Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts Hi Dan, these are:

- 30.1 seconds is the lap time assigned for an unanswered conundrum. This is to make sure it is counted as slower than a 30.0s second solve, which is possible.
- 45 seconds is the lap time assigned for an incorrect guess, to make sure it is counted as slower than an unanswered conundrum.

Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts Apologies I explained that slightly wrong. 45 seconds is actually the lap time assigned for the round AFTER an incorrect guess (i.e. the track limits violation)
- An actual incorrect guess round would be classed as 60s

Trevor Potts Thank you everyone for completing your qualifying sessions! While it doesn't technically start until tomorrow, I may upload some games for the AUS GP this evening. Final grid orders for both Formula Apterous and Formula Dipterous are now confirmed on the spreadsheet.

It took a tiebreak to determine the polesitter in FA, but in FD Dan put in a dominant performance in Q3 to seal pole position.

Looking forward to seeing how the race pans out as our Championships get under way!

Dan Southwell Pole Position! Whoop!!! :D

Tourney round: Formula Apterous World Championship 2025: FA1. Australian GP - QUALIFYING

<< Pre-Season testing: Race | 2. Chinese Sprint - QUALIFYING >>

Notes from the organizer: Here it is folks! The first live session of the season. Your performance in this round will determine your starting grid position in the first Grand Prix of the Formual Apterous season.

REMEMBER: Any incorrect guesses will result in your next lap time (next round) not being counted due to a 'track limits violation'. This only happens within sessions, so Laps 11 and 17 will always count (assuming you've not already been eliminated) even if you got the previous conundrum wrong.

There is no penalty for not buzzing at all (other than a slow lap time!)

Qualifying mechanism*:
Q1: The 15 players with the fastest single conundrum solve time in the first 10 rounds of their conundrum attack will progress to Q2. The remaining 5 will be sorted in order of their fastest solve time and their starting grid position for the race will be P16-P20 accordingly.
Q2: The 10 players with the fastest single conundrum solve time in the rounds 11-16 of their conundrum attack will progress to Q3. The remaining 5 will be sorted in order of their fastest solve time in rounds 11-16 and their starting grid position for the race will be P11-P15 accordingly.
Q3: Players will be ordered in order of their fastest conundrum solve in rounds 17-20 and their starting grid position for the race will be P1-P10 accordingly.

Ran from: 1 – 8 March 2025. Format: Speed Conundrum Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.

Organizers: Trevor Potts.

Fixtures: 36. Completed: 36.
