Matthew Tassier The honour of completing the 500th max game in the history of Weakest Link numbers tourneys goes to Johnny Canuck. Well played!
Johnny Canuck Thx! Hoping itβs a sign!
Anthony Endsor Well done Johnny
Eoin Jackson Confused:
| |
George Armstrong I presume that spreadsheet also ranks by previous cumulative scores (which have not bearing on this tourney)?
Matthew Tassier Yes, that is right, on both counts. Furthermore the alphabet is against Toby.
Thomas Carey it's taken 6 years but i am finally the best at something.... and that is getting lucky in the tiny baby variant :)
Eoin Jackson Is it correct to say that the players currently in the frame for "strongest link" this round are: Tom Cappleman, Elizabeth Beer, and Adam Latchford...? (as they each have 200-maxes with a 130pt gap)
Matthew Tassier In the tradition of the television version, the Strongest Link is decided by an arbitrary list of unpublished tiebreakers that may or may not be relevant to the task in hand. But it looks like you're close as Tom is currently in line for the title.
Ben Andrews *Bob answers his question promptly* "Bob is statistically the weakest link."
Patrick L Thanks Eoin for notifying me that I could still join. Am in now. And thanks Matthew for running this.
Eoin Jackson You're gonna love it. The best tournament Apterous has ever known. β€
| |
Gevin Chapwell Why did Apterous Nude get Jon O'Neill as their opponent? Only player to lose so far as well.
Maria Chandler Yes very strange glitch. Although it looks like Jon maxed it π

Jim B Lower user ID appears first in these pairings. Jono is user no. 1, Nude is 99. The rest of us are all 100+ so we appear second.
Matthew Tassier With a record number of competitors this year, it's probably not a big surprise that we've got a new record 39 max games in a round, 11 more than the previous high. Thomas maxing his Junior game for the 6th year in a row is impressive, but this round's Strongest Link is Tom.
Matthew Tassier Always a shame to have to say goodbye to someone in round 1, especially a debutant. But we must, so J you are the Weakest Link. Goodbye!
Eoin Jackson Hard luck, Joseph π₯
J Bartram Good luck in the rest of the tournament. |
Notes from the organizer: The bots have been randomly allocated to the variants and we begin with the variant that has been the highest scoring one in previous years. Starting off easy, round one will be played in Junior format against Apterous Nude. Nude will pick 1 large and should find the max about half of the time.
Some stats for this round:
Competitors : 77+ (new record)
Weakest Links required : 1
Historic average Junior score : 193.27
Previous Junior max games : 120
Most Junior max games : 5 - Marcus Hares & Thomas Carey
For more stats see spreadsheet linked below.
Just ONE lowest scoring Weakest Link will be removed from the tournament this round and if there is a tie for lowest score then I shall allow the tied players through as it's the first round. However, any players failing to play their game within the time limit will definitely be eliminated, taking the Weakest Link spot.
The numbers by each fixture below are the total points each player has scored in the history of Weakest Link Numbers tournaments. Just for fun, they have no bearing on the outcome of the round.
