Fi Thorne Wish I'd read this first! Got 20 as a target in the first round and stupidly just thought I could click on the number 20! Doh!
Matthew Tassier Sorry Fi, I did try to help!

Adam Dexter Silly sosig I missed a max by not adding the 1 I had left :/
Maria Chandler As I expected, as I had a bit of a shocker, I am one of the weakest links. Thank you so much for organising, Matthew, it was fun while it lasted.

Fi Thorne Thanks for organising Matthew! I went out in round one in the previous Weakest Link tournament I entered, so round 3 is progress! 😁Good luck everyone!
Matthew Tassier Among 29 max games including 22 perfect 200s, Gevin is this round's Strongest Link and joins Florence as joint top tournament points scorer.
Matthew Tassier All close here, where 1 more solve would have been enough to save our bottom 3 players. Particularly unfortunate for Fi who fell in to the target=20 trap. Experience seems to be showing early in this year's tournament as we've still only had to say goodbye to new WL numbers players. Fi, Maria and Dan S you are the Weakest Links. Goodbye! |
Notes from the organizer: Round three in this year's tournament will be played in Unlimited Junior format against Apterous Plum. This is similar to the standard Junior variant except there are two available large numbers, 10 and 20. Plum picks neither of them in the potentially awkward 5 small and should solve the majority of rounds. One quirk of this format is that if 20 is your target then to get your 10 points you must still do a calculation even if there is a 20 in the selection. (e.g. do 20*1 or 20+3-3 or 4*5 etc.)
Some stats for this round:
Expected competitors : 79
Weakest Links required : 3
Previous max games : 79
Most max games : 4 - Elliott Mellor
Most points scored : 987 - Gevin Chapwell & Tom Cappleman
For more stats see spreadsheet linked below.
THREE lowest scoring Weakest Links will be removed from the tournament this round. If there is a tie for lowest scores then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
