Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman A warm up may have helped given the difference between the halves of my game

Martin Long

Martin Long Didn't expect to see this format at this stage! Matthew must have some particularly tough rounds in Omelette/Bullet/Nasty planned with Spoilage at the end. I wish everyone good luck as I'm heading for the exit (again).

Chris Butler

Chris Butler I'm surprised to see that 4 will be eliminated! It means 9 to be eliminated over the final 4 rounds, so most rounds where only 2 go?

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Hypernasty is always tricky, but as it is just against Waldorf this year, some of the more interesting rounds in simpler formats have snuck past it in the roster.
4 eliminated here leaves a tidy top 10, and more than 2 leaving in the last couple of rounds would be too big a proportion. And 4 leaving when a round already has nasty in its name seems apt.

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Now would be an excellent time for someone to publish 'Hyper Nasty Numbers for Dummies'.

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey what tcap said hahahahaha, maybe never doing a practice game isn't such a wise move

Martin Long

Martin Long The opposite was the case for me. Scored a 160 in practice and then a 127 (probably won't be enough to qualify) in the actual tournament. :-/

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Don't worry, Martin, I'm here to save you.

30 points in my game lost to misclicks as a result of being distracted by the flashing/beeping of tourney games popping up. Remind me to resign from all future tourneys that expect me to play real people.

Martin Long

Martin Long That's very unfortunate Chris. :-(

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Strongest Link for the first ever time, Adam does it in style with a big PB matching the highest ever Hypernasty NA score in WL.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier Two Weakest Link stalwarts are left rueing their slow starts with all-time top WL points scorer Tom on 20 points after 8 rounds and random-choice maverick Thomas on 20 after 11. Meanwhile in just their second participation Chris H falls just short of his cracking debut while Mike has delivered a considerable improvement. So Tom, Chris, Mike and Thomas you are the Weakest Links. Goodbye!

Chris Butler

Chris Butler Has the random choice thing been going on all tournament Tom? Ballsy and impressive if so

Thomas Carey

Thomas Carey It has, made it a fun challenge! Sad that it ends now but definitely going to be trying it again in future! thanks for hosting MT

Chris Hare

Chris Hare Thanks for organising, Matthew! Good luck, everyone remaining!

Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Thanks Matthew, shame 1 or 2 stupid mistakes fixed would have saved me, but then I'm sure Martin would have been saying the same

Mike Lee

Mike Lee Thanks Matthew. Been quite the adventure!

Tourney round: Weakest Link Numbers Tournament 2022: Round 20 - Hypernasty

<< Round 19 - Berserk | Round 21 - Bullet >>

Notes from the organizer: Round 20 this year is going to be a stiff challenge as you will play a Hyper Nasty format game against Apterous Waldorf with 4 people leaving as Weakest Links. The large numbers here range from the useless to the unwieldy providing a real test of calculation and focus. Waldorf will pick 1 large (hope it's not a 12) and struggle, but should get a few spot on.

Some stats for this round:
Expected competitors: 14
Weakest Links required: 4
Historic average Hypernasty WL score: 140.04
Highest Hypernasty WL score: 190 - Elliott Mellor (2020)
Highest scoring Weakest Link: 150 - Rahul Suresh (2018)
Lowest scoring survivor: 100 - Jim Bentley (2021)
For more stats see spreadsheet linked below.

FOUR lowest scoring Weakest Links will be removed from the tournament this round. If there is a tie for lowest scores then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total score in the tournament so far (see notes by matches).
