Chris Butler

Chris Butler Good luck everyone (well a bit late for Tom), may the best numerist win! :D

Tom Cappleman

Tom Cappleman Happy to set the bar to beat me as "solve any round"

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier And that's a wrap. Finishing in 3rd place this year, for the 3rd time, Tom opted against any practise and unfortunately had a bit of a nightmare game, but had a great tournament apart from that registering his highest total points yet. In second place, becoming the first player to complete the virtual gold, silver and bronze medal haul, our 2016 champion managed a return to great form this year.

Matthew Tassier

Matthew Tassier So, with a perfect first three rounds launching him to the highest ever WL Spoilage score, and a total tournament points score that has only been surpassed by Elliott, this year's highly deserving CHAMPION of the Weakest Link Numbers tournament is Tal! Congrats to this year's Strongest Link, great play throughout. And finally it's time to say a big thank you for taking part to everyone who took on the challenge this year. GOODBYE! *disturbing wink*

Tal Lessner

Tal Lessner Thanks Tass for a great tournament!
It's more fun winning it than being eliminated in an early round.

Feel quite fortunate to be on the receiving end of the sweet combination of CECIL's kindness with insanely unmissable easy targets (Rd 1,2,15) and Velvet's generosity allowing me to score in so many comfortable 1 aways.

Tourney round: Weakest Link Numbers Tournament - 2024: Round 24 - Spoilage

<< Round 23 - Bullet Hyper

Notes from the organizer: This year's 24th and final round will be played in the often dreaded Spoilage format against Apterous Velvet. Spoilage is the ultimate apterous test of arithmetic, time management, decision making and focus. Velvet will choose 4 large numbers and is pretty strong, so she will undoubtedly foil some great close declarations with perfect solves.

Let's check out the contenders:
Tom Cappleman - Cumulative points 4148, 4 times Strongest Link, 6 max games, Spoilage PB 96, 3rd final appearance, Tournament best: 3rd (2016,2019), All-time points 34115.
Tal Lessner - Cumulative points 4115, 2 times Strongest Link, 5 max games, Spoilage PB 151, 1st Final appearance, Tournament best: 20th (2021), All-time points 14266.
Chris Butler - Cumulative points 3907, 1 time Strongest Link, 2 max games, Spoilage PB 94, 3rd fInal appearance, Tournament best: Champion (2016), All-time points 32306.
So, who will prevail? Will it be former champion Chris, all-time top points scorer Tom, or final debutant (with the highest spoilage PB) Tal? Your guess is as good as mine!

The highest scoring player in this round will be declared the 2024 champion. If there is a tie then margin of victory/defeat will be taken into account amongst tied players followed, if necessary, by total cumulative score in the tournament (see notes by matches below).
