Andy SC Hard-Soft tyre strategy

Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts In case anyone had any doubts about the fairness of the FIA president (me) competing in the series, having made the decision to increase crash chance for this round, I drew an RNG of 0.02 on round 3, made a typo, and drove 18 laps with floor damage.

Great.

Stephen Elsley

Stephen Elsley Am I allowed to say my pit stop was on lap 10?

Trevor Potts

Trevor Potts Your pit stop is automatically on your first (two) 20s+ solves so yes, you stopped on laps 10 and 11 😊

Stephen Elsley

Stephen Elsley OK thanks

Trevor Potts Folks I'm going away for a few days so won't be around for updates or spreadsheet tweaks. Thankfully the spreadsheets are set up to look after themselves and all results are captured automatically.

This does mean I won't be giving last day reminders for any unplayed games though so consider this your last deadline warning!

I will try upload the Japanese Qualifying games as soon as I can on Saturday but it may be afternoon rather than AM. Will confirm results from the Chinese races over the weekend.

If anything breaks on the spreadsheets please let me know but don't panic! It's fairly easy to redo results if they go wrong

Andy SC

Andy SC It appears Logan Sargent has crashed into the spreadsheet

Trevor Potts Deadline day! Penalty points incoming for DSQs and DNS, one of more drivers may now be on for a race ban so please keep up with the tournament

Trevor Potts Formula Apterous Race Summary:

Winner: T-Cap, Mercedes, 51.53s race time
Fastest lap: T-Cap, 0.80s, lap 1
Other podium: Chris (2nd, Red Bull), Trevor (3rd, Ferrari)

Most overtakes: 19 (Anthony)
Most net positions gained: Dan (9, 14th to 5th)

Driver of the Day: Dan (9.3 rating)

Fastest pit stop: Nick, 0.3s

DNFs: 1 (DNS)
DSQs: 0

A true masterclass from T-Cap means he takes maximum points for the second Grand Prix running, and has dropped only 1 point all season thusfar. Chris's performance would normally have been enough to win most races but given T-Cap's perfect display it only served to gain him one place, pushing Trevor down the order and ensuring a repeat of the Australian GP podium.

Elsewhere, Dan drove superbly to take 5th place and gain some big points for Sauber and Hazel and Mike both gained 5 places each to score points for their teams. Mike's 10th place, coupled with Thomas's 4th, meant VCARB were the only team to score points with both cars.

Trevor Potts Formula Dipterous Race Summary:

Winner: Wesley, Hitech, 333.89s race time
Fastest lap: Andy, 1.60s, lap 13
Other podium: Ross (2nd, Prema), Steven (3rd, ART)

Most overtakes: 18 (Jason)
Most net positions gained: Stephen (9, 14th to 5th)

Driver of the Day: Stephen (9.5 rating)

Fastest pit stop: Sarah, 0.0s (!)
DNFs: 0
DSQs: 1

Last lap drama here saw Wesley snatch the lead from Ross on lap 20. Elsewhere, Stephen rounded off an excellent weekend, gaining lots of places just like he did in the sprint, this time to secure 5th place. Jason also put in a top drive to claim points for Van Amersfoort.

2nd place for Ross was enough to keep his place atop the Drivers' standings, but ART have pipped Prema to the lead of the Constructors by 1 point thanks to their dream driver pairing of Mark and Steven. Lots of close battles elsewhere in the Constructors Championship too makes this Formula one to watch.

Tourney round: Formula Apterous World Championship 2025: 2. Chinese GP - RACE

<< 2. Chinese Sprint - RACE | 3. Japanese GP - QUALIFYING >>

Notes from the organizer: Time for our second Grand Prix! Don't let the recent sprint race let you forget: This one is FULL GP which means a pit stop is mandatory. Superlicence points will be dished out to any disqualified drivers.

While our weather forecast for Aus looks to have been wrong, accuweather assures me there is 0% chance of precipitation in China next Sunday so this is another dry race for us.

Potterelli Tyres are recommending a pit window of lap 8 or 9 for the default Soft-Medium strategy. As ever, you must notify me BEFORE playing your game if you wish to choose an alternate strategy.

The Chinese GP RACE spreadsheet is ready to go when games go live at midnight. To encourage use of this info hub, I will provide a link only to the Formula Apterous website, from where you can find all the links you need. https://sites.google.com/view/formulaapterous

Overtake delta is slightly lower than Australia, at 2.4 seconds. Crash chance has been tweaked since race 1 so be careful, and good luck!

Our inaugural Grand Prix winner in Formula Apterous, T-Cap lines up on pole here. In Formula Dipterous, polesitter Steven is joined on the front row by Ian, who looks to kickstart the season for his Campos team.

Ran from: 16 – 23 March 2025. Format: Conundrum Attack. Matches: One-off. Approved.
