apterous is a complex beast, and occasionally things don't go as smoothly as we'd all like. This page should provide you with the help required to get things working properly again.
The game and website should work correctly in on a desktop or laptop in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge. It might also work to some extent in Internet Explorer or on a phone, iPad, or toaster, but these are not officially supported.
If the website is working fine but you can't load the game (it keeps running through connection attempts without response), check the Today's games page - people tend to be playing apterous all the time, so if there haven't been any games completed in the last 15 minutes or so on the list then it's a fair assumption the game is down for everyone. If so, there's nothing you can do other than to remain patient and try to load the game again in a while.
You should also be aware of the server maintenance forum thread, which will give you details of any scheduled downtime. The chat panel in-game may also warn you of forthcoming temporary downtime when the server has to be reset.
Disconnections, crashes, or other bugs can occasionally happen in the Duel and we know it's frustrating. However in the long run, the luck evens out – you will sometimes finish ahead of someone else who ran into an issue on their end and lost points. We'd spend all our time dealing with these small issues if we tried to patch them up so sadly you will have to be satisfied with whatever score you got at the time and try again tomorrow.
The easiest and quickest way to get support is file a bug.
For more serious or urgent problems, you can e-mail Charlie directly with the details. Please use this option sparingly.
